My girls do not have a dresser in their room and I plan to leave it that way for awhile. When my first baby girl was born, I spent months refinishing a dresser to perfectly fit her Cinderella themed nursery. And it worked out great. For awhile anyway.
Here was my Problem:
Tell me if this sounds familiar, you spend the afternoon or evening doing laundry, get it all folded and ready to put away. BUT. The kids are sleeping and there is absolutely no way you are willing to risk waking them up to put the laundry away. And so, the laundry piles up in your room or other areas of your home. This was our cycle. I could never find matching outfits or the pajamas I was looking for so I knew it was a habit we needed to break, but how?
Bye Bye Dresser!
And that was the end of dressers in the girls’ room. I knew I needed a new storage solution, one that was on wheels. I wanted something I could easily move out of their room while I was doing laundry after they are asleep. I actually got the idea from our laundry hamper/ironing board cart (this was one of my favorite baby gifts and you can find it here!)
So I found a durable tower of drawers that fit perfectly in their closet from The Container Store. Seriously if you have never been to this wonderful place, go. My home is a testimony to the genius behind there storage and organization systems. You can choose different sized drawers to best fit your needs. The set that I chose is made of metal and on 4 wheels.
It fits all of the girls clothes and I have the drawers organized as follows:
Drawer 1: socks, bathing suits – E and C
Drawer 2 : pajamas – C
Drawer 3: pajamas – E
Drawer 4: Tops and pants/shorts – C
Drawer 5: Tops and pants/shorts – E
Drawer 6: Diapers and wipes
Drawer 7: Linens

Best Solution EVER
Making this switch was seriously a game changer! It is so much easier to keep up with the laundry and ON MY SCHEDULE! It takes up minimal space and wheels right back in the closet when the laundry is done and the girls are awake. I will be keeping this system up as long as I can! It is by far my favorite piece of advice for moms, ESPECIALLY moms of two or more little ones!
